Outer Limits
The void is part of the body.
The figure is built around an opening: a space that is both absence and presence.
Created in 2019 for a private site in Upstate New York, Outer Limits extends the intimate language of Idols of the Sun into a monumental encounter. The circular body frames the landscape, allowing the surroundings—and the viewer—to become part of the sculpture.

The bronze surface holds the trace of the hand, while the open center keeps the sculpture in constant relation to its surroundings.
From each viewpoint, the work gathers a different fragment of sky, trees and ground. The landscape does not simply surround the sculpture; it enters its form.
From inner state to public scale
Outer Limits grows from the small self-portraits of Idols of the Sun. Enlarged to a monumental scale, the inner condition becomes a place the viewer can approach, look through and physically encounter.
