The private figure enters public life.
Dan Reisner (b. 1964, Haifa) is an Israeli sculptor and educator based in Tel Aviv–Jaffa.
Working primarily in bronze, as well as wax, ceramics and metal, Reisner gives physical form to mental states, inner conflict and processes of transformation. His practice moves between intimate figurative works and monumental, site-responsive sculpture.
Reisner’s work has been exhibited in museums and galleries including the Israel Museum, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, the Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art and the Jewish Museum Vienna. His sculptures are held in public, museum and private collections in Israel and internationally.

From Strait to Create · 2000–ongoing
Trauma becomes material.
In 2000, post-traumatic stress connected to Reisner’s military service in Lebanon surfaced with force. Sculpture became a way to face it, externalize it and move through it.
Out of this process he developed From Strait to Create: a method that transforms anxiety and unresolved inner experience into form. Rather than illustrating trauma, the work gives it material presence—something that can be seen, encountered and changed.
This approach has guided Reisner’s art and teaching ever since. It also gave rise to Idols of the Sun, begun in 2002 as an ongoing sculptural journal of small bronze self-portraits.

Teaching
Reisner has taught sculpture and creative thinking at the Kalisher School of Art, the Meyerhoff Art Education Center at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, Ort Evin, and additional educational programs.
He served as head of the Sculpture Department at the Kalisher School of Art and continues to teach through lectures, workshops and From Strait to Create.
